It's sad that the blonde girl with two younger sisters died since they were looking forward to start a new life together

Sad indeed

Testament • 2 years ago

It gets even worse when you consider what happens to the two twins down the line. Their parents sell them into slavery, and both die from overwork.
And then the absolute worst part: the webnovel differs from this entirely. Arche is actually spared and taken in by Shalltear as a sex slave, though it is "non-oppressive" for what that is worth. However, the silver lining is that Arche is eventually granted citizenship in Nazarick, and her little sisters are actually moved in with her. Arche even teaches Ainz how to dance!
I would have liked for the webnovel ending to have been adopted here, if only because of the happy-ending that is granted at the end.

Still, part of me wonders if the whole thing could have been avoided if the leader didn't lie, and the whole group prostrated themselves before Ainz and begged for mercy and forgiveness. The human part of him that's left might have been willing to entertain the thought.

That would have been nice(web novel ending)

Maybe it could have been avoided

Eccentric • 2 years ago

Still depressing though

Yeah, I think the author was actually pissed by that because people voted for Archie to be spared in the webnovel.

Testament • 5 months ago

He was, yes. The author isn't the type of person who likes to follow the cliches and do what one would actually expect to happen in real life. No Dues Ex Machinas or asspulls. But, in retrospect... he shouldn't have been stupid enough to hold a fucking vote, should have just left a note at the end of the novel that said "she's dead, deal with it."

That would've been savage.😂
But I also think maybe he made that vote to see if people actually understood what he was going for, in terms of story and MC. But alas, people's hearts were bleeding.

Hmmmmm........... • 2 years ago

Dark. That merry group didn't deserve that I believe :(

Alan Sickle • 2 years ago

They were there to rob and kill every last one of the "monsters" living in that tomb, despite Ainz leaving many treasures for them outside.

Nobody deserves endless torture, but they did kinda chase that fate.

Elizerwizer • 1 year ago

After reading this it makes me less sad and reminds me that greed is indeed a curse.

Shimfoni • 1 year ago

I didn't even realize that, thought that was a trap, though they were very greedy and invade and trespass.

Jerson Aralan • 2 years ago

You have a point, now it's settles me...

Nomatter • 2 years ago

tomb raiding bro.. no excuses. they got what they deserved. sure they might have had needs but there are other means to get money.

Jellyfish • 2 years ago

Spot on

Baka-nyan • 2 years ago

Well he is an undead so he don't have feelings for humans

justrate • 2 years ago

I agree, his method of leading and actions portray that he didn't learn much from his comrades. Those who serve him have their full trust in him, and yet he questions theirs on a whim quite frequently. Although he is reminded of how it felt to be weak, and yet he chooses to oppress and rule by fear and torture in every opportunity. Yes he is undead, but that is nothing more than a display picture (a doll), with a human conscience inside. Other players will not sit well with his actions, that consider only those he cares for as worth of living.

that mood swing of aniz at 5:55 was pretty funny

TacoDivision • 2 years ago

i always forget how sad the ending of episode 8 is.

Marzero • 1 year ago

yeah to survive this without trauma you just need to accept that Ainz is the villan of this story

TacoDivision • 1 year ago

i not only accept it.. but am very happy he is. we get to many "Goody two-shoes" Protags, we need more like him.

FunkyAlien • 1 year ago

Well, not many anime have "goody 2 shoes" isekai protag, most isekai stick to their own beliefs or ideals and not exactly go for the "common group". But yes, we don't get too many "Villain" isekai's.

But Ainz overall, is a pretty good protag. He simply acts like a villain because he's undead and was reminded by Lord Touch Me to be "nice" to some extent to others. i.e in S1 where he "avenged" Nina's death by saving her sister in S2. He wanted to do the same in here, but these "mercs" only cared about money, so they were bound to die.

TacoDivision • 1 year ago

Hero and Villain is all a matter of perspective. only winners write history and can sway the perspective of others.

SudoCHAD次 • 1 year ago

They were all prepared for death for 350gold. Even tho they had tons of it before entering. Also if the Mc was just defending his keep.

It truly was a great episode and also anyone in the shoes of the king would surely piss their pants

niniyo • 2 years ago

damn that ending

You know a story is good when it leaves you with conflicting emotions. On one hand I wanna root for Ainz but at the same time those last 4 adventurers had some depth in their characters that it leaves me crushed that they died... I'm starting to hear the inner philosopher talking to me.

Jellyfish • 2 years ago

Nah they deserve to die. They were way too delusional. Greedy

Niño vincent Atienza • 1 year ago

i agreed. They already found too much gold but greed got to them and they still want more.

Unknown4Now • 2 years ago

Was That Suppose To Be Sad

Honest Question

TacoDivision • 1 year ago

it was intended to be yes. but for people like us, (assuming you and I are roughly the same) we can careless about others lives who are out side of our social circle

Rafax1_ • 1 year ago

I Wouldnt Even Care If It Was Inside My Social Circle Wich I Have Non But That Would Include My Mom And Familly I Guess I Still Wouldn't feel Much If Not Anything
